Scottish actress, comedienne, author, playwright & journalist

Janey 1998-2002

Her dry wit and exquisite sense of irony are like a fine cognac after a full meal. She takes on class structure, self-important teachers and mad women of a certain age with a casual but focused delivery that demands intelligence from her audience - and rewards it well.

A strong ‘take no prisoners’ style of stand-up, guaranteed to steal your attention and have you laughing in the aisles.

Her sharp repartee and sense of comedy was acquired over 15 years working behind the bar of her own pub in Glasgow's East End where, I think that it would be fair to say, she cut her comedy teeth on her customers. Refining her craft amongst the chaos of: "the karaoke machine breaking down, the country and western act trying to tune up and Rangers and Celtic fans giving each other the evil eye" This is a mile-a-minute lady.

She has the confidence that only comes from performing regularly and holds the audience like a Rottweiller chewing a bone. Once she's got them they are never going to get away.

Her material stems from her upbringing in the east-end of Glasgow, and to call it acerbic would be a huge understatement.

In the world of the politically correct, Janey is a breath of fresh air.
